Adjoining Wangaratta’s Apex Park via an under bridge path is the Frank Garth Reserve. It is a small reserve named after the late Frank Garth for his management of the Ovens and King Rivers.
Vehicles can access the reserve at the northern end of the Major Mitchell Bridge and follow the short dirt tracks to the convergence point of the Ovens and King Rivers. There are tall majestic red gum trees in this well shaded area. It is a popular spot for travelers to stop for lunch or to organise their gear. Fishing is also popular but often European Carp are caught and must be disposed of.
There is a public walkway under the bridge which leads into Apex Park. It is work noting that following periods of heavy rainfall this reserve is subject to flooding.
