Once located in Faithfull Street Wangaratta the Royal Victoria Hotel in Wangaratta was built in 1854 by Thomas Millard.
Millard was one of the regions early settlers and butchers. The project cost him ten thousand pounds and sent him bankrupt. In 1864 it became one of the first hotels in Australia to make its own ice and it also featured a large hall for meetings and social functions.
After 145 as one of the most significant landmark buildings it was demolished in 1999 to make way for government buildings.
